O’Cannabiz, a business-focused cannabis conference and expo in Canada, has announced its “Best of Cannabis” industry nominees ahead of its first annual industry awards gala on Thursday, April 25 at Toronto’s historic Casa Loma.
“Nominations opened during the first week of March, and O’Cannabiz received – and provided us with – well over 1500 submissions across 35 different categories,” said Deepak Anand, CEO of Materia Ventures, and one of the 10 judges.
“How we got it down to only 325 is beyond me. There are a lot of really talented people in the industry. But, as a group, we (the judges) did it, and are proud of each and every nominee that made the cut. We now leave it to Canada to cast their votes on who should win,” added Anand.
Neill Dixon, President and COO of O’Cannabiz, said the first annual awards gala is “shaping up to be an evening for the books and we look forward to celebrating, together, all under one roof. Canada has come a long, long way over the last year, and there are a lot of people, brands, and companies who deserve recognition.”
