A “Clinical Cannabinoid Education Network” (CCEN) launched on Jan. 16 that aims to provide “an educational platform for medical practitioners who want to learn more about the science of cannabis and its place in their clinical practice.”
The goal of CCEN, according to a release, is to “educate and inform physicians about the latest breakthroughs related to medical cannabis.”
The network was launched by PureSinse, a subsidiary of Pure Global Cannabis Inc.
“By providing education and a forum for physicians by physicians, they can share new information and learn from one another in a supportive environment,” a Pure Global Cannabis release notes. “This will allow more patients to obtain the latest and most effective treatments as determined by their doctors, including safe access to medical cannabis.”
On the CCEN advisory board is Dr. Sanjeev Goel, a practicing family physician in Brampton, Ont., who is the Chief Medical Officer for PureSinse, and the medical director for Spark Cannabis.
A release notes Dr. Goel has “extensive experience in medical cannabis and has been a pioneer in the field since 2015.” He was also founder and CEO for an integrative medical practice using cutting-edge medical treatments for patients across the country.
“We need an education network like this,” said Dr. Goel. “By giving doctors an opportunity to learn about medical cannabis from each other, patients will be able to benefit from more effective treatments overall.”
Run jointly as a partnership initiative between Spark Cannabis and PureSinse, the CCEN launch features an initial networking dinner on Jan. 31 and a full summit on May 10.
